Doc

I'm a Six-year-old neutered male looking for my forever home.

Hi. My name is Doc. I am a 6 year old neutered male looking for my forever home. I am a very loyal boy. I love to be with my people and am always excited to see them. I am a bit insecure and anxious. My foster family has been working with me on that and I need someone who will continue to reinforce the training and appropriate behaviors we've been working on. I am also on some mild medication to help me with my anxiety and fears.

I enjoy any activity where I can be with my humans. I promise I will get attached to you very quickly. My foster mom says I’m very loving. I am weary of strangers and don’t like to be startled so I need proper introduction when meeting new people, especially when they come into my house. I would do best in a home with no children or older children who won’t startle or surprise me.

I run and play well with other dogs if I've been properly introduced so I could be in a home with other dogs but would be perfectly happy being an only dog. I share my toys but I do have some food resource guarding issues so I need to be fed separately and given treats separately. I take treats very gently.

I love to run around the back yard and chase squirrels up the tree. I would love a big fenced backyard. I love squeaky balls and I like to play tug-o-war. I also enjoy going to large, open areas and dog parks where I can play fetch and swim.
I am crate trained. I whine a little bit when you put me in but that’s only because I want to be with you. My foster mom thinks it’s cute that I love to watch TV with her and I really do follow along. Then I curl up with her and my foster dad on the couch and I am so happy. Movie nights are my favorite. I do ok on a leash but I sometimes react by barking and lunging when I see other dogs and people. My foster family has been working with me and a trainer to help with my reactivity. It will be important that you continue to reinforce the good behaviors they've been teaching me. I need an owner who will l be with me as much as possible, will snuggle with me and will be my leader. I need an owner that will protect me when I’m around strangers and make sure I get a proper introduction.

If you are interested in being my forever family please call or text Teila (785-221-9529) or Michelle (303-807-7757). Even if you’ve already filled out an application call them and tell them you want to learn more about me.
