Rustys story began on June 1, 2003. His owner (wife)
called Vizsla rescue to see about surrendering him to rescue. He is a 3
year old intact male and the family didnt have time to spend with the dog
(they had him since he was a puppy). The children hadnt even bonded with
him. She was told that we would find a foster home for him and call her
back. When she was called back, her husband had Rusty and was on his way to
check out a potential home referral. The husband called rescue back and said
that the referral turned out to be a friend and that he liked Rusty so he
was left there.

Low and behold on June 14,
2003, two weeks later, the announcement on the list that a V was in a kill
shelter in the Canon City area. One plus one equals two. Turns out the
husband did not leave Rusty with a new owner, but in fact left him at the
shelter the same day that rescue was called.
Rusty, of course, was
traumatized and came down with kennel cough. He is currently being fostered
with our newest member who happens to be a veterinarian. Of course she just
loves him and says he is the sweetest dog and a quick learner.
Rustys story has a happy
ending. He has found his forever home with his foster care giver. He will
enjoy the rest of his days being loved and appreciated. He shares his new
home with a Lab buddy and Rusty is truly a loving and sweet Vizsla.
