Kili, a spayed, approximately one year old pure bred Vizsla was picked up as a stray by the animal shelter. She was accepted into our rescue group on July 19, 2005. She was quite thin and very stressed. She did have a microchip, but the number had never been registered. With that information we were able to track down some information on her. She was originally sold by a pet shop. We are aware of her breeder in Kansas and are fairly certain she is not breeding anymore.

Kili seemed very glad to be in her foster home and over the course of the 12 days settled in quite nicely. Since she had a small growth removed from her gum the day she arrived, it took her a day or so to begin eating although she was never really interested in food that much.

She had an aversion to her crate at first (and barked when we left the house) but settled in after she realized we regularly came back after only a few hours. I found out she loves to watch squirrels in the yard and loves to be outdoors. She clearly had not been on a leash but was a quick learner and enjoyed our daily walks. A gentle leader was added which enabled us all to enjoy the park. She is a smart young dog who quickly learned to sit and fit in with our routine. She is very clean and never had an accident in the home. She loved to roughhouse with Pearl, my Vizsla, and play tug-of-war with the toys. Kili is a sweet gentle girl with a very nice disposition.

During the 2nd week, we passed a runner in the park who stopped to inquire about the dogs. She was interested in finding a Vizsla for her family. The rest, as we say, is history.

Kili has been adopted by Andy & Jodie, a wonderful, active family with 3 young children who are thrilled to have her. She lives across from a park. I am delighted that she lives in our neighborhood so Pearl and I can visit and stay in touch. - Gail

Update: Kili lives in a house on a park, where she runs, and runs, and runs; usually playing with her closest friend JoJo, a boxer the same age that lives across the park. One of her best qualities is gearing her level of play to her counter-part. When playing with Dad, she pulls out all the stops, ripping holes in his old sweatshirts. But she tones things down considerably when playing with the children, only suggesting to tear their clothing with affectionate nibbles.

Her only quirk from her past life is an eerie stand-offish behavior she exhibits around large or loud, very mature or very masculine men. It is uncomfortable to think of what she experienced to harbor these feelings but reassuring to know she is no longer in that situation.
Vizsla fanciers say her tail was cut too short, about 4 ½” long, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. That little nub gets going a million miles an hour every time we walk in the door or wake in the morning. She has become an incredible dog; extremely affectionate, well behaved, and very comfortable with her new family. Her name means “Red Chili” in Hawaiian, as we are big fans of the islands - Jodi
