Jake, a 1.5 year old male, was released to the Colorado Vizsla Rescue Group on August 8, 2001 by a young girl in Longmont, CO. She had ‘rescued’ Jake from a hunting kennel. The kennel had volunteered to find Jake a home when Jake’s owner no longer wanted him because he was gun shy.

Jake adjusted very quickly in his foster home. His foster family worked on housetraining young Jake and putting some weight on his small frame. He was severely underweight due to worms. Jake quickly revealed how sweet, affectionate, and intelligent he was. Within days he had won over his foster family and the 3 female vizslas in the house.

On September 2, 2001, Jake was adopted by a couple from Scottsdale, AZ who drove to Colorado Springs to meet him. Jake’s new family had owned another Vizsla rescue who passed away in April. Jake quickly won them over and is doing wonderful in his new home in AZ. Jake has already been trained to ring a bell to signal he needs to go outside; he has been trained to know the furniture he is allowed on (or not!); and is enrolled in obedience class. He has met the neighbor dog, "Millie", who is now a playmate; and he spends his weekends at a cabin in the woods where he can hike with his new family. Jake’s new family reports that his ability to do "head-stands" is quite amusing and are very happy to have such a loving, bright boy in their lives.
