We had been expecting her into rescue for a month prior to surrender so it gave us a chance to keep an eye out for the perfect home for her. Along came Roni & Shaun Gordon, they had lost their rescue Vizsla in November to liver disease. They said yes, they were definitely interested in the old girl. When we got Hannah on Saturday, Dec 15^th, I immediately contacted Roni and she said they would come out the next day. Hannah was so depressed and missing her family, I felt it was imperative that she be placed into her forever home as quickly as possible. It is so sad when old ones are uprooted from their family and lifestyle. Roni and Shaun came out the very next day, Sunday, and fell in love with Hannah at first sight and adopted her on the spot. It was like a match made in heaven. Hannah only had to spend one night in transition, I can't tell you how happy that made me.

Hannah has fit into her new forever home like it was her very first home as a puppy. Here is Roni's account of Hannah's adoption:

We lost our rescue Vizsla to liver disease in November. Feeling it is my mission in life to rescue the entire Vizsla breed I re-registered with Vizsla Rescue in Fort Collins, CO. I told them I would take an older female Vizsla. They informed me of an 8 yr old girl who would be coming into rescue. We drove to Fort Collins on Sunday and brought the old girl, Hannah, home with us.

She is a wonderful dog, very well trained and is settling in great with the "boys". Hannah & Barley play together more & more each day and she & Duffus (Chow) just ignore each other. Hannah has been going to work with me & acts like she has always belonged there. I work in a nursing home. She is not afraid of the wheelchairs or walkers and the residents call her name and she goes to them and stands there and lets them pet & love her. She also does her little "sit up and beg" trick for them to receive treats. She is very independent and gentle and needs no supervision when visiting the residents.

The longer she is here we see more of her cute mannerisms and learn her "dog games". She loves to play and she is very vocal, always making some sort of noise about something. She has accepted her place in the pack order, which is under the old Chow, Duffus, and above the 150# pup, Barley. She is the boss over him and sets his limits. She and Barley play and chase each other all over the house and backyard. Sounds like a freight train going through the house when they are running through the house. When they are done, Hannah usually plops down on the couch and just smiles. She has learned to use the doggy door to go outside.
