Greta is a 3 yr old purebred Vizsla. She has a small build; weighs about 38# and is a healthy weight. She came from a home that no longer had time for her and she spent too many hours in her crate. She is very sweet and loves attention. She enjoys running and playing with other dogs. Although she is housetrained, she has been known to pee when she gets really excited (like when you first come home.) She knows sit very well, but needs her obedience training to be continued. She does pull on the leash, but does well off leash staying around her humans. She barks when she gets excited and is still a little skittish with new experiences (e.g., running by the road with cars going by really scared her at first, but is getting better with that every day).

Chris and Tonya had been looking at adding a Vizsla to their home for over a year and decided that they would like to adopt one from rescue. They came to visit Greta and it was love at first sight, but they would have to see how Greta would deal with their two cats. We brought Greta to her potential new home for a weekend stay to test her with the cats. Greta was scared of the cats at first and watched them like a hawk, but slowly came around. Only two days after staying at her new home she was playing at the off-leash park and got scared by another dog, she bolted right back to Chris and Tonya – they new Greta had picked them to be her new family.

Greta was officially adopted on June 9th, 2004. When Chris came to pick Greta up, Greta was beside herself! She was so happy to see her new dad she ran right out to the car and didn’t even want to come back inside to say goodbye. She jumped right in her Jaguar and looked out the window with such excitement "See ya guys, I'm heading home!"

We’re lucky that we get to continue seeing Greta at the Vizsla play groups. Chris brought her out to try flyball and she picked it up right away; it was just hard to restrain her from running back to “dad” before he could reach the end of the course.
