Davis went home today, that's right, he went home! Never heard of Davis? Well that was because Davis was a well kept secret, you see, Zena and I had a home chosen for him before he ever left the shelter. Zena called and told me that there was a young male V in the shelter that Animal Control wanted to turn over to rescue as soon as his 3 days was up. He had been at large and the ACO knew that he wasn't being taken care of by his owners. The shelter staff had been working with the owners to take better care of him, but they weren't. Zena told me that he was a wonderful dog and that she really liked him, that is what got the ball rolling. Tim & Stacey had adopted Wilson from us, and he died from bone cancer. They were heartbroken. So Zena and I decided to find a perfect fit for them.

Davis had not been abused, just neglected, he had been taught nothing, had always been kept outside in a 6'x6' kennel run and was only about a year old. Zena asked what should we name him, my quick reply was Davis, Tim and Stacey own a V mix named Harlie, get it? Harlie and Davis, Zena went and bought him a Harley Davidson collar, and then transported him to me.

I started the training, he was not housebroken, didn't know anything about house living at all. He is a very smart boy and learned his lessons well. Then I started sending pictures, and e-mails got the ball really rolling, I let them know how well he was doing, what he was learning and what a really great dog he is. They, just like Zena and I fell in love with a very easy going and loveable V named Davis.

Davis went home on March 17th, 2007, with his forever family, Tim and Stacey. They are thrilled to have another V in their lives. I don't know about Zena, but I received another pay check from rescue, cause Tim and Stacey now own Harlie and Davis. I love it when a plan works! Wonderful people get a wonderful dog, makes all the hard work and time worth it. - Polly

Davis is GREAT – we love him already! It’s so amazing how he’s a completely different dog on days that he runs and days that he doesn’t. He just crashes after a run in the park. You did a wonderful job with him. I just love how he runs in to the crate like there’s a big party waiting for him in there. So cute!! - Stacey

Yes, Stacey there was a party in his crate------ peanut butter painted on the back wall, cookies hidden under his blanket, and a deer antler! I stopped that (well not all) after he decided that a crate was a wonderful place, not a prison. - Polly
