Dakota, a Vizsla/Lab mix, was owner surrendered because the
family didnt have enough time for him. They moved from a place where Dakota
could run and exercise to a place without a yard. He needed exercise and
whenever the children would open the door, he saw his opportunity to escape
and get a good run in. He really wouldnt run away, just needed to stretch
his legs.
He was picked up
several times and the family was given a warning that they would have to go
to court if he was picked up again. So, they kept Dakota in the bedroom.
They finally decided that this was not the ideal situation for him and
contacted our rescue group.

Renee and her
husband Jason fostered Dakota and fell in love with him. Dakota found his
forever home with his foster family and is doing wonderfully.

From Renee: Dakota loves to kiss and
sneaks on to our bed in the middle of the night. I swear that he is waiting
for my husband to start snoring before he comes up. His only problem is the
fact that he climbs fences. He doesn't run away, at 100# he doesn't run
anywhere, he just moseys away. We have caught him every time, we do however,
think that he would come back on his own. We also bought him a gentle lead
for walks and it is like magic, he doesn't pull. It is amazing. He loves
tennis balls and when we pet him under the chin. He is mesmerized by our two
hedgehogs. He starts grunting and tries to lick the hogs. He wants to cuddle
with them, but they are not so cuddly. All in all we love him, we never
could have asked for a better dog. He is beautiful and gentle. He looks at
me with those amber eyes and my heart just melts. He has even started giving
us his puppy dog eyes when he wants something. It is complete with a head
turn and everything.
