Chile is a very small spayed 13 month old, female, purebred Vizsla. She weighs approximately 30# and in under 20” tall. She was owner surrendered because the owners felt it was in her best interests. They had adopted her from a no kill shelter and had her only 2 months. They felt she was very unhappy, she was an only dog, and they felt she was suffering severe separation anxiety. She would try and hurt herself, dig holes, destroy plants and small trees when she was outside, because she wanted to be in the house with her people.

Chile was a basket case when I picked her up. She was trembling and very nervous. She had not been crate trained and was very intense about chasing cats. She barked continuously in her crate. When I moved her crate into the living room where she could see me, she was quiet. She even slept all night on the pillows she came with.

The day after we got her, I let her out back with my dogs and another foster. She held her own and ran and played with the other Vizslas in the backyard. She was out back all day and was fine. Several times she did whine to come in, but went back to playing.

She is very skinny and we are working on putting more weight on her. She is sleeping all night in her crate and does not mind being in it other times, since she is in a community room with people.

September 19, 2004 - Sue & Sean and their three children came to take Chile to her forever home today. They loved Chile the minute they saw her. Chile immediately showed bad manners by barking at the children. Looks like she had never been around small children before. So, we all sat down outside and played with her. The children played with her too and she finally decided that they must be just smaller people. We spent over an hour just getting used to each other and playing. Chile loved Sue & Sean and sought out their attention. I emphasized the importance of letting Chile have her space and letting her get adjusted to the children and not overwhelming her. Sue & Sean had already gone shopping the day before they came up here, so I am sure Chile will not want for toys and other goodies.

When they got ready to leave, Chile went into her crate almost voluntarily. There is a lot of love around this little girl. Happy days, Chile, we will miss you at our house. - Rita
