Cherokee is a 16 month old, purebred, spayed, Vizsla. She was
purchased from a pet store when she was a pup. She was surrendered by her
owner because the kids were afraid of her. Another example of buying a
puppy because it is cute and the people feel sorry for it with no knowledge
of the breed characteristics. Yes, she was a wild child, she had no
boundaries or had not been taught the basic home rules. Cherokee was adopted
by a loving family that was willing to help her learn her place in the home
environment.
Here is her new moms update: Just want to give you an update on Cherokee's
progress. She's been doing really well here and has adjusted much better to
her new home. Cherokee & Aspen are on a regular schedule now where they go
to doggy day care a couple of days a week (2-3) and then stay home 2 days a
week while we're at work. Cherokee and Aspen are getting along really well
and the more we socialize her with other dogs and other people the more
relaxed she is. I went on a hike with a girlfriend of mine and her dog, and
Cherokee was incredibly comfortable and had a blast on the trails with Aspen
and her new buddy along w/my friend. So all and all, everything is going
well. She's using the doggy door to go outside and she's staying within the
invisible fence lines. We slowly train her on the boundaries and she's
responding well....she's not cowering anymore and doesn't respond negatively
if she does here her collar beep.
Just wanted to give you a positive report and tell you that we're thrilled
to have her and I believe she's happy to be here too. Take care, Carolyn
