Casey was picked up as a stray in the Wichita, KS area. She was evaluated through foster care and transferred to CO for adoption.

Casey was adopted by David & Vikki. Casey’s story as told by David after almost one week with the dynamo they call Casey:

Casey is getting along famously with us and has taken to her new surroundings with gusto! Her loving nature is a welcome thing since it's been so long since we've had a pet. She's indeed perfect for us.

She's enjoying "getting fattened up" because she gets to try a few new flavors until we find what is good for her and what she likes. Chew toys are her favorite in-house activity, although she still thinks any shoe within grasp is hers to play with. She doesn't chew them; she just thinks it's a blast to walk off with them (that and Vikki's bathrobe belt! Now THAT was funny!)

Casey is ultra-high-energy knowing only two speeds: dead stop and full-blast! It's been fun and she's very loving indeed.

Like any new home, she's testing and learning our boundaries, is in love with her new yard because she can run full blast (how else?) and adores her doggy door and bed in the day room. I've come home each day mid-afternoon to check in on her and play (frisbee and ball are her current favs). Happy to say that she's done absolutely no damage or friskiness in the day room when she's been alone. She sleeps in her crate just perfectly at night, already learning that "nite-nite" means she goes in on her own.

Casey took to her new name in the first night. She's still a little hard-headed when she sees another dog, believing the entire world wants to play with her and nothing else matters. Nevertheless, Casey is enjoying her morning and evening walks/runs with me (as am I!) and hopefully it's not long that we trust each other enough to let her off the leash in the park. But I think that's a few weeks off yet. To see her in mock "point" in the park is breathtaking. What beauty!

Her high-spirited way has been actually pretty easy to get accustomed to. She's extremely smart, happy and wanting to please, and is just full of love. To say that we adore Casey would be understating it.

Update: June, 2010

Casey is my best friend and, as my wife, Vikki, likes to say, I’m her favorite human in the whole world. The others are fine, but she’d rather be with me. That’s true.

Casey and I go pretty much everywhere together and when I had to be away for a couple weeks the reunion was terrific. I missed her every day.

I ran into someone just the other day at a PetSmart and they had their Vizsla there (I guess it’s a mix and it was being groomed) and she stopped to admire Casey and noted how hers was a rescue. When I mentioned that Casey was, too, then of course we find out we’d each gotten our dog from you. What a pleasant thing to learn the breadth of your work.

Anyway, here’s an updated and newer photo of my baby girl. Casey’s been with us now more than three years and not a day goes by that I don’t appreciate that.
