Bacchus fka
Max is a 2 year old Wiredhaired Vizsla who was owner surrendered. His
previous owner was a hunter and Bacchus fka Max spent the majority of his
time kenneled outside. When Rita asked me to foster him, I was a little
disappointed she asked me to take a funny looking dog rather than one of the
beautiful smooth coated V’s, but I figured it’s all for the good of the dogs
and only temporary. I quickly found out Bacchus fka Max was one of the most
well trained dogs I’d ever met. He could do it all – sit, down, heel, fetch,
was crate trained, walks good on a leash – you name it. That was a welcome
relief since you never know what you’re going to get when you foster. Pretty
soon, I saw some major changes in my 10 year old Vizsla, Kobi. He went from
coach potato to super active with Max wrestling, playing tug of war and
chasing the ball. This was great since I figured Kobi was on the downhill of
spunky and I didn’t expect to see that side from him again.
One day during a meeting I was bored and started goggling dog names on my
blackberry. I ran across Bacchus (the Roman god of good times) and thought
that fit this dog pretty good. I finally contacted Rita and asked if I could
adopt him. Bacchus is the perfect dog – he makes Kobi play and me smile and
what more could you ask for? When you see him, he doesn’t just wag his tail
– he wags his whole body. And this isn’t just the first time you see him
each day or after being gone a while, it is all day long – when you first
wake up, when he comes in from outside, when he sees you anywhere in the
house. I look forward to many years of good times with Bacchus in my life! -
