Amber was an owner-release to a local shelter on Christmas Day. Her previous owners complained that Amber jumped their 4’ fence and she was overall too hyperactive. She came into vizsla rescue on New Year’s Eve. She was very emaciated and nervous. She was quite protective of her food, but never tried to bite. Over the three months she spent in her foster home she put on over 10 lbs, and was trained to sit-stay-wait. She became comfortable being in her crate, improved on her off-leash skills and her jumping issue! She is very sweet and smart, but needs more work on her obedience. On March 19^th (in the middle of Denver’s largest snow storm since 1913), Amber moved to her forever home. She was adopted by a wonderful couple, Jon and Salli, who both work from home and were excited to bring Amber into their home; energy, bad habits, and all. Amber was also adopted by her new nephew weimeraner (Duke) about the same age and energy level as her. Amber and Duke have a great time playing together and tiring each other out! Amber will also be welcoming home a new baby brother vizsla in a few weeks. I’m sure Amber will make a wonderful big sister!

Here is a recent update from Amber’s new mom:

 Amber LOVES her baby brother Rusty!! She has been very good with him, even let him eat out of her dish a couple of times (while she was eating). I sure was shocked to see that!!!. They play and play...and she is doing better and better every day! Still has issues with drop and sharing the toys, she will pile all of them all around her and then growls at Rusty when he tries to get one. He is so mellow he doesn't get too upset, most of the time he just waits for her to give one up. I usually intercede at that point and make her share. She may be getting the point, but not sure yet. I do have to take all the toys away sometimes, just like kids!!

She has really improved in regards to her jumping on people...even our friends noticed the improvement from the last time they came over.

Duke comes over once a week for most of the day and wears both of Amber and Rusty out...they sleep soundly after he leaves. Kinda nice since Amber is usually an early riser, so on Wednesday morning I know that I get to sleep in a little.
