Snoop is a 1 ½ year old female, could pass for a purebred, but most likely a mix. She made the rounds of several shelters in New Mexico trying to find her forever home. She captured the hearts of the shelter staff and volunteers and they thought she needed every chance they could give her.

She found her way to our rescue group and into the home of a fantastic volunteer who spent hours every day treating her. She was in extremely poor condition when she arrived in our rescue. She would scratch 24/7. Her foster care giver, Mary, told us her kitchen counter looked like a pharmacy with all the medications that poor Snoop had to have every day. She also said due to Snoop’s intense itching and scratching, she did not seem to be aware of her surroundings. It took her almost two weeks for the itching to lessen and for her to become aware that she was in a great place and had a V buddy to play with.

It took about three months for Snoop’s beauty to surface and become a healthy girl ready to go to her new home.

Cate filled out an application for Snoop in January, but we were working on someone else. And those people had things come up where they were not available to adopt yet.

I met Cate at the “Meet The Breed” booth at the local Denver dog shows and she was so excited that Snoop was still available. She told me that she kept looking on the website to see if she was still available. Well within a couple of days Snoop was hers to love and vice versa. - Rita
        

Fenix fka Snoop - Update May 2007:

Fenix (fka Snoop) has adjusted well to her new home with Todd, Jade, and I. She has become such an integral part of our lives that we can’t imagine what it was like with out her. She is so full of love, and seems to have an endless reservoir for anyone who is willing to receive it.

She has quickly become Todd’s snuggle buddy and takes every opportunity she can to weasel her way onto his lap. She has even gone as far as to sit in between the front seats of the car to rest her chin on his shoulder. I am happy to say that we can take her anywhere we go knowing that she is happy being apart of our little adventures. Whether its adults, kids, or other animals she just loves hanging out and being apart of the crowd. I have been fortunate enough to bring her to the school where I work. She loves playing with the kids. It’s such a riot to watch kids run down the hallways and see Fenix sliding after them.

We are now onto the Advanced Beginners obedience class which she just shines in. She is so smart and eager to please (as well as get the yummy treats)! We are going to do some agility this summer and lounge in the park.

She now knows sit, down, stay, eye contact and we are working on having her respect Jade’s space. She has made two friends in our neighborhood, Happy & Denali, as well as friends at Divine Canine where she goes to puppy camp once a week.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to adopt her. It baffles me as to why she was not adopted sooner.
