Success Stories: Ella & Pups


Ella Rescue Crew: Rita, Polly, Kara & Jacque	Vizsla Van ready to go.....

Ella was picked up by Topeka animal control on August 4th and on August 5th she gave birth to 7 puppies. Ella & pups were rescued from the Topeka, KS shelter. The whole family was fostered for 6 weeks by Polly in Phillipsburg, KS. It was determined at this time that the pups daddy was most likely a Blue Heeler. But we can't be sure.

On September 27th the whole family was transported to Colorado for spay and neuter and adoption. Adoptions took place the weekends of 3rd, 10th and 25th. Everyone who adopted one of these special pups is very happy with their new family addition.

Just giving you an update on our girl. She is really flourishing. She actually plays ball now and plays with other dog toys. My dog Dustin has shown her how to play. She has filled out and her hair looks great. She has not tried to get out, so I have been leaving her out with the boys when I am gone, so far so good. She has my two to hang out with and Max who is my mother in-laws dog who I have at my house often. She gets along with the other dogs very well, especially being the only girl.

She likes my son alright, but has growled at him a few times when he has crossed the line. I explained to him that he cannot bug her when she is sleeping or eating. Usually, she is pretty tolerant, but she has her bounderies too. She is my companion. She won't go to bed until I do, she still likes to sleep in her crate. She knows all basic commands like sit, stay, lay down, come thanks to you. She has never messed in the house. She is really a blessing. I bought her her own Christmas stocking.

The Pups!!!

Note from Rita: I have found these pups to have the body frame as well as behavior of the Vizsla. They want to be right there with their new parents, but have some behavior characteristics of the Australian Cattle Dog from their father. They sit and keep and eye on their territory and other animals. They are Vizslas masquerading in Cattle Dog disguise. Best of both worlds.

	Puppy #1: Dusty is with Carl & Angela Dusty has found his forever home with Carl & Angelica. When Carl first saw Dusty, he fell in love with him. Dusty's new family consists of an 18 month old, his parents, along with Carl & Angelica. Dusty has a lot of fun playing with the baby and they are buddies. Dusty is also very busy during the day landscaping his new backyard and training his new family. Dusty has the sensitivity of the Vizsla and the watchful eye of the Australian Cattle Dog over his family (flock).
	Puppy #2: Cher, with owner Tyler Now named "Echo".
	Puppy #3: Abby, with owner Denise We named our pup Daisy, as she likes to pop the heads of my flowers and then spit them out. She is doing great, adjusting to her new life in Denver. She has started some puppy obedience classes and is very smart and picks things up quickly.
	Puppy #4: Blazer, with owners Tavi and Erica Tavi & Erica have named their new pup Jackson. They have showered him with a big stuffed bed and lots & lots of toys. He also has new friends next door to play with. Tavi & Erica have found Jackson to be energetic, curious and very affectionate. He is growing like a weed and gains more confidence every day. He proudly keeps watch of the backyard and has learned to use the doggy door when he needs to go outside. He loves to play with his stuffed animals and chew on his rawhide all day long, between his 3 hour naps. He is a great little guy and loves his new parents very much as they do him.
	Puppy #5: Allie with owners Allison and Dave
	Puppy #6: Pepper, now named Chayse, with owners Kelly and Chad Chad and I have named our puppy "chayse". She is adjusting to her new home wonderfully, she loves to go the park, petsmart and just play! We are starting puppy headstart (training) on Nov 10th, she has already learned how to sit, come and shake....she is very smart. Thanks for checking in.
	Puppy #7: Porter, with owners Carol and Shawn Porter Update - We wanted to update you and thank you for Porter. He is the best dog ever! He learns commands and tricks as fast as we can teach them. He will come to Shawn, sit down and make eye contact "begging" to work on commands and learn new tricks. So far he is a pro at sit, down, stay (all hand signals), wait, high five, paw (shake), heel, loose leash, beg, and off. He is practicing (without jumping) Frisbee and agility so he can start when he is older. He's made a "puppy" out of our 12 1/2 year old poodle. He is incredibly loving, loyal and smart, a Vizsla to the core. In November we took him on a 3 week RV trip to Florida and back. He loved every minute of it. At 5 1/2 months he weighed over 40 lbs so he's a big boy. I thought you'd get a kick out of this story -- Before Christmas we took Porter with us to the Littleton Petsmart. Santa was there and when we glanced over there was a puppy on Santa's lap that looked quite familiar. Simultaneously Shawn & I looked at each other and said it had to be a litter mate of Porter's. Sure enough it was Cher (now Echo)!! Porter was very pleased to see his sister and we got pictures of the 2 of them together on Santa's lap. Again we want to thank you for all that you do. We would be interested in adopting another rescue Vizsla, especially one that is older so keep us in mind! Shawn & Carol
