Hank fka Avo

January 7, 2002 – April 13, 2009

On January 7, 2002 Hank fka Avo was a 2 ˝ yr old purebred Vizsla who was adopted by Alice & Jim. His new family renamed him ‘Hank’.

Hank got to go on long daily walks in the ‘City Park’ in Denver. His new owners were hopeful that they could train Hank to hunt. He had shown great interest in the pheasant feather they bought for training and is able to find the hidden feather in their backyard. Hank attended ‘obedience school’ and adjusted very well in his new home. His owners were very happy with Hank and have discovered a few pleasant surprises about Hank---he was becoming increasingly affectionate and was a great lap dog!! Hank reports that he is very happy with his new owners too!!

In April 2002 Hank and I have made several trips to State Wildlife Areas and I work him at the end of a 50' rope. Last week he was off the rope and did not get out of gun range. We were along the Platte River. He had a blast. We were standing on the bank, maybe 10' to the water, Hank just leapt into the channel. He had to swim 100' to an area where he could get out. Several weeks ago he was off the rope and he ran out of site. I walked for a couple of miles and couldn't see him. Went back to the car and he was there waiting for me. I don't know how we missed each other. We were at Jackson reservoir. I think he made every duck and goose take off out of the lake. We had his teeth cleaned. Everybody enjoys him. He is good with the grandchildren. Jim and Alice

Unfortunately Jim passed away on April 5, 2009. The family could not handle Hank who did not understand why Jim wasn’t there. He was showing aggression towards family members and was taken to the local shelter where he was helped over the Rainbow Bridge. Hank was 10 ˝ yrs old and was grieving and very scared. He is now with his beloved master in paradise. - Rita
