Rocky
April 22, 2004 – January 2006

It is with a very sad heart that I have to write this story on this young dog,
Rocky. Rocky spent his last years treated like a king in the lap of luxury. He
was pampered and spoiled. This time with Sherry made up for all the bad times
and abuse he suffered in his short life. He crossed over the Rainbow Bridge
doing what he loved best, chasing rabbits.
He chased a rabbit into a pipe and got his head stuck and either suffocated or
his heart gave out. He was not out of sight for more than 15 minutes but when
Sherry found him he had stopped breathing. Sherry took his remains to the vet
and asked how this could
have happened because the pipe was plastic and 4 inches in diameter. He may have
gotten stuck but should have been there alive just needing help to get out. The
vet said that it was likely the rabbit stopped in the other end of the pipe and
cut off the oxygen supply and basically Rocky just went to sleep very quickly.
There were no tear marks on the nails and theblood vessels in his eyes had not
burst. He did not fight and the ground around him was undisturbed.
Sherry had him cremated so he will be with her always. Adrianne is doing well,
though she looks for him out the kitty door into the garage and it makes me cry.
Oddly, she seems to have adopted some of his old traits, like smacking her lips
for nighttime snacks and laying on
her back and punching the air. But she is well, and has turned out to be a
beauty in spirit and in every way.
I am so sorry to tell you this. I had a wonderful life with the two of them, and
will continue to look after Addy. She and I are buddies, and she still loves to
go in the car even if only to the store. At some point I may get her another
companion, but I am not ready yet and I doubt she is either. She loves Kathy's
little dog Chloe, and I will just let her play with her for now.
