Kutya
March 22, 2008 – August 6, 2008

Kutya came to us about 2 months ago from KS. He was picked as a stray. He had been a breeder dog in a puppy mill.

He was really sweet! He would follow me all over the house. I'd walk into the kitchen turn toward the counter to get a drink, turn around and there he was! Right behind me! I have lost count how many times I stepped on his toes because he was right there! There were times when he didn't know where I was going so he'd stop right in front of me. One of my expressions I say to foster Vs is: "if you don't know where I'm going, don't try to lead me." He wouldn't try to lead; just stop in front ready to put his head in my hand to be petted.

Sometimes he acted as sharp as a whip and other times he acted like his elevator didn't run to the top floor. There were times when he responded real well to Kutya and then there were times when he acted like he didn't know his name at all. He didn't seem to have the concept of which way a door opens when he first came. I'd say “time to go out”; he'd head for the back door and stand by the hinge side of the door then when I opened the door he'd run right into the storm door which I hadn't had time to open. He finally figured that out. He liked playing with a ball; he would bring me a ball to throw for him. He had a bath on Sunday and when he came back into the living room, he spent about 20 minutes playing with a ball all by himself.

He decided that if our V Roz could get into our laps, he ought to be able to, so he'd try. He would climb up and never settle; it was like he could never get comfortable- ------till last night. Last night he came, crawled up into my lap and went to sleep. He stayed there for about a half hour until I had to answer the phone.

This morning with the help of our vet, as Polly and Rita like to say, I helped him cross over the rainbow bridge. He had what was termed resource protection/guarding which made him unadoptable.

So long Buddy Kutch! - Jerry
