GRETA
November 10, 2004 – December 4, 2004

On Dec 4th, 2004, Greta died. She didn't die of natural causes, no illness, no accident, she was helped over the rainbow bridge by the local vet. What Greta did have was issues, issues that try as hard as she could, she just couldn't overcome. People say all the time, "If dogs could talk", well they can if you listen and watch their behaviors. When Greta first came to us she appeared to be a very well behaved girl, but then it happened, the trigger, and the behaviors started. I watched her reactions closely, and in doing so Greta told me the whole story.

Greta cowered when you reached for her collar, she cowered when you raised your hand too quickly, she had a groove worn in her nose from wearing a gentle leader for extended periods of time. Greta had been very well trained, by several different trainers, several different techniques, none of which I would recommend for a Vizsla. Greta was trained to death, what she learned from all this miss handling was not to trust any human, just do what they say, but don't let them touch you. She told me this, yes she did, with her tail, when happy she waved it like a flag, when not trusting she held it straight out, when scared she tucked it. – Polly J
