Carter fka Jamar
January 27, 2008

Carter fka Jamar came into rescue as a result of a call from a local shelter.
Carter had been returned by his adopter and did not pass his temperament test.
He was determined to be food aggressive and not adoptable and was scheduled for
euthanasia if we didn’t take him. He was determined to be about 1 ½ yrs old.
His history was that he was a shelter transfer, only one that we know of, and
passed his temperament test and was adopted. That person returned him to the
shelter because their other dogs were not getting along with him, and
antagonized him. Too many transfers and we suspect abuse before he came into the
shelter system.
When we got him to my home he was very happy but, confused. He was a large dog
(approx 70#), his coloring was correct, but the coat, was iffy. His ears were
not correct and his head/expression was iffy too. But, we felt we could adopt
him out. Things seemed to be going alright until we tried to get him into a
crate. He panicked and tried to break out. He got very stressed and hard to
handle. We determined that he was severely confused, suffering severe separation
anxiety, and did exhibit a desire to bite.
This poor boy was so messed up that we decided the best thing to do for Carter
was to send him to a better place. Our vet came out to the house and we helped
him cross over the Rainbow Bridge with people who cared for him holding him and
speaking softly and lovingly and caressing him. Carter is finally happy. - Rita
