Bob aka Milo
November 30, 2002 – October 27, 2003

Bob started to have behavior changes late summer of 2003. He started guarding the dog water bowl, hiding in the closet, barking and jumping (all 85 pounds!) on people. He was quickly aroused with any change in environment and did not settle down easily. He would air snap with his teeth, and rolled his eyes, exposing the white part (whale eye). He also began challenging my other Vizsla, Kayla. He was digging up the yard. These behaviors were unmanageable with normal dog training methods. My son was becoming afraid of him.

After evaluation by a PhD canine behaviorist, the options were not good. The behaviors she observed indicated Bob was a ticking time-bomb. He should be re-homed and Bob would require specific, specialized, ongoing type of management and training, and there would be no guarantee of ending up with a "fool-proof" dog. His unknown background, and the fact that another home would be the sixth one in his short 3-year life, indicated that it was time for Bob to be relieved and released from this inner torment. Alyssa & Gregory held Bob in their arms and helped him cross over the Rainbow Bridge on October 27, 2003. He was very dignified and seemed to welcome the peace. – Alyssa K
