KUTYA'S PROFILE

Profile:

Kutya (Kootch-ya) is a sweet happy boy who was picked up as a stray. We believe he was a kennel dog and never been a house pet. He is extremely grateful for ear scratchings, belly rubs and playing ball.  He is loving the discovery of what it means to be a loved dog. His tail wags constantly! He seems so surprised to be fed regularly and although at first he simply didn't understand sitting on laps now he asks for "up" all the time. You should see the happy, surprised look in his eyes when he gets a little attention. He likes cuddling.

We are working with Kutya on down, stay, come, and sit. He understands the squirt bottle means "uh-oh, they don't like that!". He gets along fine with our dogs, stalks the cat for fun, and is almost cured of marking. He is filling out a little, we see fewer ribs now. Kutya needs a home where his family has time to firmly and consistently teach him how to be a pet, enforce boundaries, and give him lots of attention. He is gentle and gets along with dogs, but loves to point cats. He has been an outside dog and a stray, and he needs room to run. He fusses the first five minutes he's crated, then settles down. He has a huge appetite and needs nourishing high quality food to overcome his thin look. His adopting family will be gratified to see what a difference they can make in one dog's life. If you have love to give, Kutya will happily take it. - Angela

Update (April 8, 2008):

Since we submitted the last report, "Kootch' has improved hugely! His coat is clean and soft, he has good house manners (except for chasing our cat), he has gained weight and has learned tricks. He goes into his crate without problems and waits quietly for us to release him. He never wakes us at night, lets us snip stitches and groom him with only a few wiggles. We can take things from his mouth just fine. He has mastered the "Vizsla Creep"-- sneaking over the arm of the chair until he slithers into your lap and kisses your chin. Best of all, he has such a happy light in his eyes! He loves people. This boy will make someone a fantastic best buddy, he is super affectionate. He is sorry the bad people notched his ears, but he says he does have a pretty red coat and nice manners! Kootch truly wants to bond to a family, he will "Vizsla Creep" right into your heart.
